Women in Ministry, Whosoever Will

Author : Paul Davis
Women who caught the fire of the Spirit and proceeded to serve the Lord in ministry are many. Throughout church history, many of the most loyal and earnest church members have been women. Often it is women who have been the pillars of many churches, faithfully teaching in children's church, caring for the little ones in the nursery, serving in many capacities. Why then should we forbid them the pulpit? There is no male or female in Christ (Gal. 3:28). God has always poured His Spirit on all flesh irrespective of gender distinctions (Acts 2:17). Permit me to name just a few of the countless women who have caught the fire of God's Spirit. When the Holy Spirit was poured out in Los Angeles in 1906, several women connected with the Apostolic Faith Mission on Azusa Street gained recognition with their ministries. Lucy Farrow, who was used of the Lord to pray for people to receive the infilling of the Spirit, later took the Gospel to Liberia. Jenny Evans Moore ministered at the Apostolic Faith Mission before and after her marriage to the pastor, William Seymour. Ivey Campbell is reportedly the first person to carry the Pentecostal message to her home state of Ohio.Evangelist Maria Woodworth-Etter traveled across the United States preaching salvation, holy living and faith healing. She attracted crowds as large as 25,000. Aimee Semple McPherson (1890-1944), a dynamic and innovative Pentecostal evangelist and founder of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, and Kathryn Kuhlman (1907-76) are two well-known ministers whose Pentecostal influence crossed denominational lines. The woman at the well who had five husbands came face to face with Jesus, after which she laid down her water pot and went out to tell the men of the city about Christ our Lord (John 4). When the men ceased lead in Deborah's day, she arose as a prophetic voice and motherly leader for her people throughout Israel (Judges 4:4; 5:7)When you discover God's heart for humanity and the nations of the world it will consume you to tirelessly toil for the souls of mankind. We need women of God to arise and not take the backseat to men anymore! God will use whosoever is willing and obedient (Isaiah 1:19). Enough of this gender bias. God does not discriminate. Our Lord is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34).The above excerpt has been taken from Paul Davis' book "Holy Ghost Fire or Hellfire? The inescapable choice."
