Have you ever had your day planned out and at the end of the day nothing went as you planned? Proverbs 27: 1 says "Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth."There are people that will leave their home today and not make it home tonight. We may be one of them. We are not guaranteed a tomorrow. This became real to me as a small boy. I love boiled peanuts. Now if you are not from the south you probably do not know what I am talking about. Take my word for it they are goooood. There was a store down the road from where I lived that put boiled peanuts up for sale. At the display was a sign that read "Peanuts 15 cents today ten cents tomorrow." I looked at the sign and decided the smart thing to do was to wait until the next day to indulge in the delight. So I returned the next day with my dime and tried to purchase the bag of peanuts, the store owner just smiled and said "Son read the sign." As I read the sign again it struck me, I will not be able to buy my peanuts for a dime because tomorrow never comes. We are all given the same amount of time each day. How we spend it and what we accomplish with it is up to us. We need to use the time given to us wisely, realizing tomorrow is not promised.Do not put off until tomorrow what you should do today. Take the time to tell someone you love them. Spend time with the ones you love while you can. Encourage someone that is going through a tough time in life. Finish that project you have been putting off until later. Do something for someone that will bring glory to God. Spend time with God, reading his word and praying. Enjoy the beauty of the day. Rejoice that God has given you another day to prepare for eternity.I hear people say "I just don't have the time." The truth is we make time for what we really want to do. How much time is wasted watching television? Who cares what is happening on your favorite program? How is it going to help you become a better person or accomplish something for God? How many hours, days, weeks, months, and years are spent on things that have no eternal value?Life and time is fleeting and precious. Do not let it go to waste. God wants you to do something for him that no one else can. You alone can reach someone for Jesus and help those you love mature spiritually. The works you do while on this earth are being recorded. One day we will all stand before, the Righteous Judge, Jesus. We will receive rewards or lose rewards based on our works, of what sort they are, whether good or bad.Too many Christians are asleep spiritually. They need to wake up and redeem the time.
Don't you be one that shows up at the judgment seat empty handed because you were waiting for tomorrow. Remember tomorrow never comes, we only have each minute of each day.Warren Adams is a bi-vocational preacher. He is burdened about the lost and those Christians that are not living their life to the fullest for the glory of God. Serving Him to meet the needs of others.
